Computer Applications

This course is designed to provide students with proficient skills in industry standard office computer applications. Students will study computer terminology, hardware, and software related to the business and academic environment. The focus of this course is on business productivity software applications and professional behavior in computing, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics, and business-oriented utilization of the Internet.

Learning Outcomes

By the successful completion of this course, students should be able to

  • Identify Computer Concepts terminology and concepts; basic operating system functionality and terminology; and internet functionality
  • Apply basic and advanced formatting techniques skills to produce word processing documents
  • Demonstrate basic skills involving spreadsheet functions; create formulas, charts, and graphs
  • Develop a database; create and format tables, queries, and reports; and enter and modify table data.
  • Develop and deliver business presentations using presentation software
